The Myrtle Beach Golf Course Owners Association has selected Rivers Edge as the 2023 Golf Course of the Year! Designed by “The King,” Arnold Palmer, Rivers Edge Golf Club has been Myrtle Beach royalty from the moment its fairways opened in 1999.
Playing along the Shallotte River, Rivers Edge has been ranked among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” by Golf Digest and the layout is on every list of Palmer’s best, but more importantly is the course’s popularity with golfers.
Rivers Edge is renowned for its coastal beauty, highlighted by seven holes that play along the marshy waters of the river, complementing Palmer’s architectural vision with an unforgettable piece of land. The par 5 ninth, which plays to a peninsula green surrounded by water, is one of the Grand Strand’s most iconic challenges, but it’s only one of many unforgettable holes. The closing stretch at Rivers Edge might be the Myrtle Beach area’s best quartet of finishing holes as they play along the river and offer varied challenges.
The course’s beauty understandably attracts much of the attention, but it’s the strength of the design from the opening tee shot through the final green that makes Rivers Edge special. Every part of a golfer’s game is tested and that’s why the layout has routinely been voted as one of Brunswick County and North Carolina’s best.
East Coast Golf Management has managed operations at Rivers Edge since 2011, and the Rivers Edge team is one of the best in the Carolinas. A founding member of the Myrtle Beach Golf Trail, the course’s management team blends vital experience with the creativity needed to help a property standout in the game’s most popular market.
The greatest testament to the quality of ownership and management at Rivers Edge is the multi-stage renovation project the property has undergone in recent years, reflecting leadership’s commitment to maintaining the course’s place among the region’s best for years to come.
Rivers Edge is a vital part of the Grand Strand community, hosting events, and providing donations and support to several charitable organizations, educational resources and growth of the game efforts.
The club proudly supports Gene’s Dream Foundation, a group founded by former Golf Channel stars Kelly Tilghman and Charlie Rymer to use golf as vehicle to introduce children to mentors within the community. Rivers Edge is also actively involved as a member of the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association and Golf Tourism Solutions.
Arnold Palmer would have been proud of Rivers Edge’s commitment to using one of his greatest designs to help grow the game and benefit so many, on and off the course.
Rivers Edge is a regular host of Patriot Golf Day, a 100-hole marathon that annually raises more than $200,000 for Folds of Honor to provide educational assistance to the families of fallen or wounded American service members. In addition, the club is an anchor property for Operation North State, Genes Dream Foundation and a financial supporter of Project Golf.
Whether the cause is aiding American service members and their families, introducing players to the game or benefitting a local organization, Rivers Edge is always proactively looking for ways to enhance the game and the Grand Strand.
